During the Biennale the artist collective Club Fortuna announced an ART PRIZE in Shirayevo for the very first time.

The SHIRYAEVO ART PRIZE, called JAWBREAKER, operated unconventional, location-specific and precise between limitations towards the understanding of a Biennale, its participants, the surrounding and the contemporary art production. The ART PRIZE 2016 got announced through posters and flyers all over the village. Everyone from Shiryaevo as well as the international guests of the Biennale were invited to participate and win an amount of 20 000 Rubel.

“Our gums hurt more and more. Someone turns up with a diamond drill and our lower and upper jaws get loose. We open up our mouth widely as a possible entrance and exit of human being. “

The final show JAWBREAKER was installed at the central beach café of Shirayevo and got introduced by the club members. The present participants discussed, moved and changed the shown installation.

A competition on many levels emerged between the participants of the contest, the curators and organisers of the biennale and the audience and led into a controversial happening. Club Fortina initiated a clash of sceptical and seductive artistic work whilst experimenting with art history, its appearance today and its prevailing conditions. The Art price is visualizing, asking and devaluating a system based on classification, power and reputation.

Besides Club Fortuna installed an intimate video work in the basement of their hosts. The 10min video is a composition between an improvised play for children and a documentation of a stroke victim
doing deltaplan flying.
